At the beginning of the school year, I introduced the "Seven
Habits of Highly Effective Librarians".

Determine changes you have the power to make in your library
program

Determine the goal you want to reach by the end of the
year.

Create a step-by-step plan to achieve the goal.

Determine who can help you achieve the goal.

Listen to know how you can help them, too.

Working together, we can achieve more.

Get the training you need to move forward.

It's time for each of us to do a check up:

    Which habits are we practicing?

Which habits do we need to work on?

Which habits do we need help with?

Some of the things we talked about at the Round-Up as being within
our
realm of control (Habit #1) are things like:

Weeding the 900s and biographies in order to improve collection
age reports

Promoting the Texas Reading Lists appropriate for grade
level

Changing reading displays at least quarterly

Are you on the way to reaching
your goals for this year?
If not, do you need
help?
